A Blast From The Past... I'm Back!!!

I know, I know it's been a life time since you all last heard from me but my real job stepped in and put a halt to my blog posting. I have a break now, so I've decided to update some of my more popular threads as well as write a few new ones. I hope you enjoy what's available and please continue to share the archives with any new Android users who might need help setting up a new device. Peace, Vec!

Nexus One 2 Part Update Just Came In

This morning one of my friends text me saying "I got an update on my Nexus One". I quickly jumped out of my bed and found my old trusty Nexus one and checked it for any updates and sure enough a 2 part update was awaiting me. 2 part? I've never received a two part update before. What is this mysterious update? It just finished and unfortunately it's not Gingerbread It's Froyo 2.2.1. I'm not sure what the differences are yet, I will report back to let you know if I see anything big differences.

MyTouch 4G Update... I Hope It Improves Reception

To update or not to update? I got the update about 30 minutes ago but I'm waiting for some of you to update first
Let me know what it does

The Gloves Are Off And T-Mobile Is Throwing Haymakers!!!

Lets get ready to Rumble!!!!! T-Mobile is taking shots at the iPhone and AT&T while boasting their new network as the biggest fastest 4g network in the United States in their new ad. I can't wait to see the response by AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. I love it!

MyTouch 4G Videos Are Popping Up All Over YouTube!

The MyTouch 4G is probably T-Mobile's biggest Android release since the first Android G1 and I think T-Mobile is about to confirm that statement by pushing a massive promotional campaign. Video's of various features of the phone are starting to pop up, here is one showing off the functionality of the front facing camera. Enjoy!

Pick Up The T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Nov. 3rd

Well the countdown is just about over. After months of speculation and rumors the project Emerald is finally being released. On November 3rd T-Mobile will finally release the phone that many of us T-Mobile users have been waiting for. Details of the mystery Emerald trickled in slowly from time to time and most of you who follow the online blogs have already become familiar with what the new phone will offer. For those of you who may not have been following the new MyTouch 4G will run on T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network which will produce 4G like speeds and run Android 2.2 Froyo and a version of HTC Sense on top of it. It will sport a 3.8" touch screen, a generation 2 1GHz snapdragon processor and most importantly both a rear and front facing camera unlike any other phone provided by T-Mobile right now. I got a chance to play with it last Saturday and the processor is lightning fast. The phone feels very solid and sturdy. I'm really looking forward to owning it. Peace, VEC.

UPDATE! UMA Is Coming To T-Mobile! Do You Understand What That Means? Learn Because It's Here!

UPDATE!

It looks like it's going down people! T-MObile is rolling out an OTA update for the new G2 owners in the world that will allow WIFI calling and tethering too! Congratulations to you G2 owners we will be looking on with envy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A leaked T-Mobile training document recently surfaced touting Unlicensed Mobile Access as part of the software included with the upcoming LG Optimus Android handset. UMA , an extremely coveted service for many here in the US has been embraced by many of the European carriers. Having a phone capable of Unlicensed Mobile Access means that users can make calls via WIFI! This is a very desirable option for more then the ability to make calls without a carrier or without incurring voice or data usage with a carrier. This also means customers in WIFI available areas who can't acquire a signal through their mobile carriers can still make phone calls using their Unlicensed Mobile Access handset. If you are like me and don't get the optimal signal within your home this is a welcome addition to your next handset.

A leaked T-Mobile training document recently surfaced touting Unlicensed Mobile Access as part of the software included with the upcoming LG Optimus Android handset. A second document appears to suggest that the application would not only be available on the LG Optimus but on other upcoming T-Mobile handsets as well! This would greatly increase the allure of T-Mobile amongst mobile consumers. Hopefully the impending release of T-Mobile's new G2 Blaze will supply more information about UMA on T-Mobile. Thank you for visiting vecdroid.com.  Peace, VEC.

It's True! Android WIFI Calling On T-Mobile Is Coming Soon!

At the end of the last month I joined the party in reporting that T-Mobile was on the verge of offering WIFI calling on some of the upcoming Android handsets. At the time nothing was official and most of us were basing our information off of a few leaked documents floating around. Well those documents have proven to be real and T-Mobile has officially announced that WIFI calling will be coming to the nations fourth largest carrier.

T-Mobile has added a couple of major hitters to their Android line up with the additions of the Samsung Vibrant and the T-Mobile G2, with the upcoming T-Mobile MyTouch HD and DEFY right around the corner their 3G network has the potential to see a big increase in traffic over the next few months. Adding WIFI calling will help the carrier free up traffic on the network keeping all you data hungry T-Mobile subscribers happy. Have a great Wednesday! Peace, VEC.

Fring Steps In Where Skype Doesn't

Well the battle for you your Android data calling services are heating up with the quickness! On the day that Skype announced its Android application upgrade, Fring has come out and announced its application is also available. Both apps allow users to make free voice calls using data services but unlike Skype's release the Fring release allows U.S. Android customers to use Fring over WIFI as well as 3G. Check it out! Peace, VEC.
